Constant Velocity (CV) Joint

Approximately 300 million constant velocity (CV) joints are sold throughout the world every year, comprising a market of over $6 billion. They are primarily used in front-wheel-drive vehicles, sport utility vehicles, and 4x4 light trucks, and are also used in some rear-wheel-drive vehicles. Torvec's spherical gearing was invented for use in our own pumps and motors. In doing so, we found an alternative use as an automotive CV joint.

CV Joint Half Shaft Assembly

This Torvec CV joint, which uses spherical gears, is interchangeable with existing CV joints, and has lower weight and manufacturing cost than current CV joints. The Torvec CV Joint enjoys world-wide patent protection. Improvements continue to be pursued.
