Torvec Appoints Chief Technology Officer

ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Richard A. Kaplan, Chief Executive Officer of Torvec, Inc. (OTCQB: TOVC.OB), announced today that effective March 27, 2012, it has engaged Dr. William Mark McVea, one of the world’s foremost drive-train and gear technology experts, as its Chief Technology Officer. Dr. McVea received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Purdue University and his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. He is President of KBE+, Inc. a group of consulting engineers engaged in the design and development of gear trains and power transmission devices. He also develops and presents professional development seminars to practicing graduate engineers, primarily working for tier-one suppliers to, or directly for, international automotive manufacturers.

SEMA 2011 Update

The 2011 Las Vegas SEMA show was a tremendous success for Torvec and our IsoTorque differential.  Torvec had the privilege of working with Hyundai Motors America (HMA) and HATCI on their new Hurricane SC Genesis Coupe show car, and shared booth space with other notable suppliers such as Mangnuson Supercharger and Bilstein Shocks.

When I first came to Torvec late last year, I said that it would take me 6 to 9 months to know whether we really have the ability to turn exciting technologies into real products that create value to our customers, generate profit and growth for us, and do something good for the world.  At that time, we raised $2 million to start that process.  My thought was that those funds would last us about one and a half years.  Unfortunately, there were some surprise expenses and costs incurred due to decisions made in previous periods.  This means the funds we raised will only last approximately one year.  The good news is that we have made tremendous strides during that time on both our IsoTorque® differential and our Rota-Torque™ hydraulic pump.  Our engineers and I believe that we can create some breakthrough products.
